Hey there, I’m Zack.
There’s nothing I love more than creating quality pure bred bloodlines that embody the best qualities for lovable house pets.
I’ve been breeding long-haired dachshunds for more than 20 years. I started in 2003 and I was able to be mentored by some of the most talented breeders in North and South Carolina.
passing the torch
Since starting in the world of breeding, I’ve enjoyed building a community and connecting with other fellow dedicated dog breeders and enthusiasts in the North and South Carolina areas. As a high schooler, there was a lot I didn’t know but through the mentorship of established breeders, I have been able to incorporate their wisdom into my own lineages.
I took a brief hiatus from dog breeding when I moved to Pennsylvania after graduate school; I was there to pursue my career as duck geneticist. When I came back to the area, I found that the previous dog-enthusiast community had retired most of their breeds; this left a significant hole in the breeding community. It was a need I knew I could fulfill and one that I would enjoy doing.
I’m here to re-establish a new era of AKC/CKC registered breeds to help bring back that same sense of community and dedication. For me, this isn’t about the money; I do this purely to provide quality breeds for other families to enjoy like I do.
I have a passion for genetics
And a degree!
Genetics is such a broad scope that incorporates so many qualities and is the foundation for everything. Through my background and education, I know there are plenty of qualities that are predictable/hereditary when creating new litters, but each time I breed one of my females, there are new aspects to find out, whether that is color patterns, temperaments, coat textures, body size, there is always that excitement to see what my sweet pups are going to produce next in their litters. Being able to match families with their new puppy is exciting as well because it isn’t as easy as saying, “I want a brown dog,” or “Just give me a female.” There are so many other components - like temperament, size, and uniqueness that make a puppy a great fit for each family.
I enjoy getting to know your family and it’s important to know what puppy will be best suited for your needs. Do you have kids? Is this for an elderly relative? What experience have you had with puppies? Do you live in an apartment? Or do you have a large fenced-in back yard? Will this be a single pet or are there other pets in the home? I consider all of these angles and more as we select a puppy that’s best for adding to your family.

from Childhood to career
Growing up on a family cattle farm, I learned that animals rely on you to provide, protect, and prioritize them. Cows and chickens don’t care if it’s raining or snowing — they still expect you to brave the weather to feed and care for them. Making time to prioritize and commit to animals has helped instill responsibility and time management in me from a young age.
Fun facts
All of our pups are raised locally on Smyre Farm Road which is the original home of the dairy farm. It has been passed down for generations and now is a now beef cattle farm.
I have a PhD in Reproductive Physiology but I don’t do this for the profit. I do it because I love animals and have a passion for helping you find the right fit for your family.
We may eventually add other breeds to our brood. Stay tuned!
forever home
I’m here to provide a hometown feel for registered dog breeds to go to their forever homes. It’s important to me to provide my local community with a place to find quality dogs that are bred in a loving, safe environment with a reputable dog breeder and bloodline.
Since I’ve starting breeding again, I’ve had multiple families who had purchased a dog from my early litters who have now had their sweet pup pass away from old age. They’re desperately seeking another family companion. After I heard about their frustration with not being able to find a similar breed and quality, I’ve been able to bring joy to families again through the addition of another mini dachshund.
